Mighty Optical Illusions
I bet you thought I gave up already!? Not so fast...
This should be in my Places of Interests, but I only thought of it today as it came up in conversation...and I've been browsing the site for a couple hours! Yes, this is what my Saturday nights have become:
Mighty Optical Illusions
This is the kind of blog I need...I don't think my daily ramblings are going to be enough to sustain this blog (although I love reading about other peoples lives, nosy as I am)...I need a hook!

Parties are F-U-N
Parties are a lot of fun, but mostly when they're at someone else's house! For about a week before your party, you're calling people, emailing them, trying to determine if some of your friends are even alive based on the response from them.
Seriously, people, a simple yes or no. In fact, it's the easiest choice in the world, you don't even have to choose. Say 'maybe'. Even if you decline and your other plans fall through, I'll still let you in. My guest list is not as exclusive as some 'downtown suburban' clubs!
I'm a woman of many lists, so I've got my who's in for dinner and what they're bringing, who's coming later so we have enough chairs, things I need to buy, things to fix around the house, things I've neglected to clean because no one ever sees them anyways.... (thanks to a much missed co-worker, I now will never forget that you put a period after an ellipse at the end of a sentence, thank you Grammar Queen)
Today will be non-stop cleaning, mowing, and setting up. Tomorrow will be non-stop putting away (next time I should just leave it away, amuse yourselves and eat with your hands), picking up garbage from the lawn I just mowed (which if I hadn't done in the first place, I wouldn't notice the garbage), and cleaning...all while hungover! But the drunk part is the best part, when you no longer care that people are wearing shoes in your house, spilling pop on the hardwood floors, strategically placing Doritos on your dining room shelves...yes, I got up on a ladder yesterday and found those remnants from the last party! As I said, cleaning places no one ever sees anyways! Let's party!

Better and Betterer
Do you know how hard it is to write something interesting every day, when your life really doesn't change much from day to day?! Oh well, this is some kind of experiment for me anyways. Maybe it will go nowhere, maybe I'll give up in a couple weeks like I do with most new hobbies.
One interesting thing I forgot about yesterday...lunch was at a Chinese buffet, and when the fortune cookies came mine said something about me becoming an "accomplished writer". This is really quite funny because I have never really been partial to writing. In high school, English was always my least favourite subject. Maybe it was the forced topics that got to me because I've also never really been partial to being told what to do!
But I have been told I can write some funny stuff sometimes. I would love to start my own magazine one day. Mostly because I would love putting it together, but I could probably write one kick ass editor's letter each month!

Lunch & Job Hunting
Today we had our going away party for the big boss. Tomorrow is his last day. It's unfortunate that there isn't room for everyone in the new company structure, as we're losing a lot of good people. Whether the big boss made a difference from a business perspective, I'm not sure as it's not my area...but he certainly made a difference within. The management team was finally molded into a cohesive unit, and it was nice while it lasted. Hopefully the new company has the same connections amongst co-workers that we've improved upon over the years. As I keep saying..we'll see!
I applied for a job recently, which after the second interview I decided wouldn't be the best move for me, but they could have let me know that I didn't get the job! They were apparently waiting for approval to add the new position, so I was unsure whether it had even been created. But I heard from a co-worker who knows someone there that the job has already been filled. It would have only taken a simple phone call! Although, I guess I should have called them as well, but as I said, I wasn't really interested.

Final blow...
Well, finally, after long speculation, my manager received her walking papers today. She'll still be around for another 3 weeks to transition her work to our new manager (who I have to admit is really very nice). I'm kind of upset about it, but she is happy...big smiles upon congratulations from fellow co-workers! I'm not very good with change, but have had to deal with a lot of it in my lifetime, so I'm sure I will make my way through it and come out on top in the end! There will be lots of change to deal with as people take on new responsibilities and roles within our company, but hopefully this means that a place can be found for everybody.
On a more selfish note, I have to wonder where this leaves me? Am I starting back at the beginning? Is it worth it? I was definitely hoping my manager would leave one day, but the optimum circumstances would have been her getting her dream job downtown, and myself trying to fill her shoes! Oh well, I'll play it out because I do still love my job, the people I work with, the hours, and the proximity to my house!

Left Behind
Those who know me well know that I'm not all that religious. I guess I would call myself a practicing agnostic, as in I'm actively curious and don't discount most people beliefs (though I do have some strong opinions of my own!).
But for whatever reason, I love Christian shows and novels.
7th Heaven? One of my favourites, although I must say it's not currently on my regularly watched schedule. I try to keep up with reruns on CTS @ 4pm, if I can get off work earlier. But I would also say that this show is on the tame side of pushing religion. I definitely don't like anything pushed down my throat. I have very few things to thank my mother for, but allowing me to choose my own beliefs would be one (I'm not baptized).
And now leading into the title of this blog...Left Behind I used to work on our Christian book club at work, which broadened my knowledge of religious titles. I couldn't get enough of this series when I started it. I got to read the first 5 books, but couldn't find 6 & 7 at our book sales. I had to order these through a friend at work, which was a trial in itself...all I'll say is it's a good thing I'm not a real customer! So, in the last month I've gotten to continue the series (16 in all). I'm now on book 10, which is getting closer to the return of Christ. There's a lot more Bible references, so the reading is getting harder for me, but I'm plowing through them, and they're getting better with each one. Because of this series, the Bible has been added to my reading list (which is up over 100 books now).
Even if this isn't your thing, you have to see the movie...it stars Kirk Cameron! How can you beat that?! Unfortunately, I haven't seen it yet...Clarence!

Let's Give This A Try
I've never blogged before, so I thought I would give a shot. Let's see where this goes...
What should I blog about? Anything and everything? Myself? Hmmm...
